In the morning we will leave for the small town of Yablanitsa. Bulgarians know the place as the centre for traditional production of confectionery, halva and Turkish delight, lokum. Then comes Kozloduy. It is not a big town situated on the Danube River. It is best known for the Nuclear Power Plant built in the 1970s.
A visit to the plant. Next, our journey will proceed to the town of Pleven where we will visit the “Pleven Epopee 1877” Panorama Museum. It is the only monument of the kind on the Balkan Peninsula. It depicts the events of the Russian-Turkish War of 1877–78 and it stands on the actual battlefield. Check in into the hotel and overnight in Pleven.
Pleven – Lovech – Lyaskovets – Mindya – Veliko Tarnovo
We will start the day with a short journey to the town of Lovech. There we will visit the first virtual Museum of Water in Europe. The old Deli Hamam bath in the town, now houses the unique water museum. Our next stop will be Lyaskovets. The town is famous for the wine production.
There we will visit the winery museum. Therefore there will be wine tasting. Back on the road and back to the world of communism. The village of Mindya is a beautiful place at the foot of the Stara Planina Mountain. It houses the first Museum of Communism in Bulgaria. Overnight in Veliko Tarnovo.
